Come join our team as our next Gift Shop Attendant/Sales Clerk at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, located in the heart of the UT campus! Hook'em!

*Ideal candidate has PT availability for weekends only., FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose:

The Gift Shop Sales Clerk is directly responsible for the prompt, efficient, and courteous service of patrons, collecting payments, and for meeting other patron needs during his/her visit. Other duties include maintaining gift shop inventory, stocking shelves and ensuring cleanliness of work and storage areas.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Enthusiastically welcome all patrons as they enter the Gift Shop.
  2. Initiate conversation by asking open-ended questions to determine patron needs.
  3. Accurately answer routine questions/inquiries in a helpful and courteous manner.
  4. Present merchandise with enthusiasm, and assist in the selection by making recommendations to the patron, including meeting daily sales quotas.
  5. Answer all questions regarding the merchandise and outline features and benefits with accuracy.
  6. Able to conduct inventory, rotate stock and order efficiently, preventing overstock, spoilage and stock outs.
  7. Advocate preventative maintenance and security functions that protect physical assets and personal safety of employees and customers.
  8. Complete shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards.
  9. Informs Gift Shop Manager and/or appropriate division head in a timely manner when supplies are low.
  10. Follows and observes all company policies and procedures.
  11. Follows company standards for attendance and punctuality.
  12. Maintains professional appearance at all times, clean and well-groomed in accordance with company standards.
  13. Develops a positive working relationship with fellow workers and customers and addresses conflict in a positive manner.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by management based upon the particular requirements of the company.

OTHER DUTIES
Assimilate into The AT&T Hotel & Conference Center PLATINUM SERVICE culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of PLATINUM SERVICE. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Flik from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
 
  • Ability to arrive to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess necessary skills to include problem solving, decision-making, handling cash, check and credit/debit card transactions, enthusiastic attitude towards customer service and a commitment to a team environment.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
    EDUCATION
    High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
    EXPERIENCE LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
    Experience in retail or customer service field is a plus.

    GROOMING
    All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

    OTHER
    Additional language ability preferred.
